Measure N Construction Projects

Measure N is a $198M school facilities improvement bond measure that was passed in March, 2020 to improve school facilities with new construction projects and essential renovation.

This funding will help SLUSD continue addressing needs identified in the Facilities Master Plan, as well as complete facility upgrade projects already in progress through previous bond measures.

Major Projects

San Leandro High School Gym

Projected Budget: $67,000,000

  • New gymnasium, locker rooms, weight room, and practice facility
  • Electrical upgrade
  • New school entrance and enhanced parking

Solar Project

Projected Budget: $10,000,000

  • Solar systems to be installed on ten school sites, providing a total capacity of 1.6 megawatts.
  • Approximately $30 million in energy cost savings over the next 30 years.
  • Locations: Garfield, Halkin, Jefferson, Madison, McKinley, Monroe, Roosevelt, Washington, Bancroft Middle School, and San Leandro High School

Projected Budget: $26,000,000

  • New campus next to the SLUSD Adult School
  • New classrooms and multipurpose room
  • New athletic and outdoor learning spaces
  • New marquee

Projected Budget: $2,000,000

  • New flooring and hallway refurbishment
  • New interior painting
  • Window shades

Bancroft Middle Courtyard

Budget: $1,750,000

Renovations to the existing Bancroft courtyard, including:

Budget: $800,000

Installation of electronic marquees at the following schools:

The SLUSD Board of Trustees established a Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC) in March 2017 for Measure J1.  In April 2020, the CBOC responsibility was expanded to include the recently passed Measure N.

The CBOC is responsible for overseeing the expenditure of money to ensure bond revenues are used as voters intended and communicating its findings and progress to the public.
