Intra-District Transfers

NEW INTRA-DISTRICT OPEN ENROLLMENT

IMPORTANT:
Intra-District Transfer Requests received after the March 15th deadline will not be considered for the lottery. The lottery will be held on April 1st. Intra-District Transfer Requests received after March 15th will be considered on a first come first serve basis and will not be placed until after August 10th if space allows.   

Enrollment

Register for 2020-2021 School Year  We are NOW accepting enrollment applications. Once you submit your application we will review and verify the information and send instructions via email. If you started your registration process via SchoolMint, you should have received a notification from the Student Services office regarding the registration status of your application.

Registration for the 2021-2022 School Year will start January 1st, 2021.


When can I apply for an Intra-District Transfer?

Intra-District Transfer Requests are accepted beginning January 1st through March 15th. We will accept late requests from April 2nd through August 1st, 2020. IMPORTANT: Intra-District Transfer Requests received after the March 15th deadline will not be considered for the lottery. The lottery will be held on April 1st. Intra-District Transfer Requests received after March 15th will be considered on a first come first serve basis and will not be placed until after August 10th if space allows.   

How do I apply for an Intra-District Transfer?

New students to the district

Below are the instructions to apply for an Intra District Transfer (Transfer within the district ~ between schools)

  1. Before applying for an Intra-District Transfer, you need to enroll in your home school, following the steps provided on our website at www.slusd.us: Enroll Here
  2. After you finish your SchoolMint registration for your home school, you will need to wait for a message from our office saying your registration is Verified.
  3. Once you get the message and your registration status is “Verified”  you will need to go back to the SchoolMint home page and click on the Add/Edit New Student Application (top right corner). **Please note you will still need to verify your ID before your registration is considered complete but you can continue with the Transfer request.***
  4. Choose the school year and the student that you are requesting to transfer, answer the questions and continue then you will need to select Request to Transfer (within the District) and click on NEXT.
  5. Choose the school you wish to transfer to click next and complete the form. Click NEXT and SUBMIT  on the next page.

For other questions on how to apply email  sharvey@slusd.us. Please note you will not be able to apply for an Intra District Transfer until your enrollment application is verified and complete.

Continuing Students in the district (Student is currently attending a SLUSD school)

Below are the instructions to apply for an Intra District Transfer (Transfer within the district ~ between schools)

If your student is currently attending one of our SLUSD schools, and you want to apply for an Intra-District Transfer, you will need to submit an electronic request. Follow the steps provided below to apply for an Intra-District Transfer.

  1. Go to sanleandro.schoolmint.net and click Sign Up to create a SchoolMint account.
  2. Once your account is set up go to the Home screen and click on the Add/Edit New Student Application (top right corner).
  3. Choose the school year and the student that you are requesting to transfer, answer the questions and continue, then you will need to select Request to Transfer (within the District) and click on NEXT.
  4. Choose the school you wish to transfer to, click next and fill out the form. Click NEXT and then SUBMIT on the next page.

Important Message:
Intra-District Transfer Requests will be accepted starting January 1st through March 15th, see above for how to apply. The Lottery will be held on April 1st. Notification will be sent to those who will be included in the lottery after March 15th by email or text message.

*Please be aware if you are applying after the deadline of March 15th your student will not be included in the lottery. Your student will be placed on the list after all of the students in the lottery and will not be placed until the first 10 days of school (depending on space).

What are the priorities for Intra-District Transfer?

Priority for Intra-District transfers will be considered according to the following order:

  • Space availability at the site requested
  • TK-8 siblings of special education students whose IEP has placed them at a specific school
  • TK-8 siblings of continuing students on an approved Intra-District transfer
  • Students whose parent/legal guardian is assigned to that school as his/her primary place of employment
  • Lottery number selected (if applicable)

How do I know when my Intra-District transfer gets approved/denied?

Due to space availability, the District could approve/deny requests up to 15 days after the beginning of the school year.

How do I know if there is going to be a lottery for the school I requested?

If the number of intra-district requests exceeds the expected space availability, the District will hold a lottery on April 1st. Participants in the lottery will be notified by email on or before March 31st.
