Dear Washington Families,
Welcome back! We want to invite you to join our parent organization called Washington Elementary Parents aka WE Parents. We want to create a parent group that is designed for ALL families, focused on supporting teachers, students, and the entire Wildcat family. We used to be known as the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), but we are transitioning to a Parent Teacher Organization in order to have more control over the use of our donations and funds, create more chances for families to engage, and do even more to strengthen our school.
WE Parents and the Dad’s Club are great ways to invest in Washington Elementary School and your community. Through a variety of family-friendly events, we strive to raise funds to enrich the students’ academic and social experiences throughout their elementary years. For example, annual funds from our Walk-a-Thon allow students to attend a three-day overnight science-based camp during their fourth or fifth grade school year. The Wildcat Parents Group will partner with the Dad’s Club to sponsor other fun events including the Halloween Carnival, movie nights, and Soul Food Night.
We encourage all families to join WE Parents and the Dad’s Club to have a shared community to help our students thrive. This will be a great way to learn more about our school community and how you can get involved. All are welcome, so please join us if you can! There will be bilingual speakers that can translate at every meeting.
To join WE Parents, please attend our first meeting and email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are also looking for English AND Spanish speaking parents who are interested in volunteering for Board or Committees positions.
To join the Dad’s Club email list, please send an email with your name to email@example.com
This will keep you informed of the Dad’s Club meetings and activities. Also follow us on Twitter! @WildcatDadsClub
