We are so excited to welcome you to the 24-25 school year at John Muir Middle School! It is going to be an exciting year filled with fun events, learning, and celebrations! To ensure you and your student feel prepared please come to our orientation events: Thursday August 8th, 9-10:30am: 6th Grade Orientation, Last Name A-L Thursday August 8th, 11:30am-1pm: 6th Grade Orientation, Last Name M-Z Friday August 9th, 9am-10:30am: 7th Grade Orientation Friday August 9th, 11:30am-1pm: 8th Grade Orientation Orientation is a time where students can tour campus, receive class schedules (Which can change due to class sizes, enrollment, or other factors before the first day of school), order PE uniforms, and receive information on school events and programs. Our 6th grade orientation is organized by last name as we want to make sure our new 6th grade students have plenty of time to tour the campus and become comfortable with entering middle school. If you have any questions please contact the school office.
We are fast approaching all our wonderful 8th grade events! Promotion gowns, leis, and tickets have now been ordered. All materials will be distributed to 8th graders a few on Tuesday June 4th at the end of the school day. They will receive their tickets and gowns at that time. Please make sure to talk to your student to make sure they give you or the family coming to the ceremony the tickets. Anyone without a ticket will not be allowed into the ceremony. Qualifying students have now received their permission slips for the field trip to Six Flags. Students should have returned their permission slips to their History teachers by Friday, May 3rd. The field trip will be on Monday June 3rd, students should arrive to school at normal arrival time, and will return that evening between 6:30-7pm. Thank you for those parents who offered to help with the 8th grade promotion party!  If you are unable to attend either Zoom meeting this week, please open the 8th Grade Promotion Party Sign Up and read the different committee duties.  It would be great if you are able to sign up for something.  Be sure to add your contact info as well (cell phone or email is fine).  Important 8th Grade Dates: (NEW DATE) Wednesday May 29th: 8th Grade Awards Assembly, 8:30am @ JMMS Gym Friday May 31st: 8th Grade Promotion Party, 6-8pm Monday June 3rd: 8th Grade Field Trip, Return at 6:30-7pm. Wednesday June 5th: 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony, 2pm @ JMMS
We are excited to host an online Zoom meeting with information for our incoming 6th grade class for the 24-25 school year on Wednesday May 22nd at 6pm. At this meeting the JMMS Administration team will present information on classes, scheduling, orientation, and general information to support you and your student as we transition to middle school. We are already planning for the 24-25 school year. 5th grade students who are zoned or interested in attending John Muir Middle School will be provided tours at the following dates. Tours are organized by the elementary school your student attends, and all tours are from 9-10:30am. If your child does not attend one of the elementary schools listed below, but you would still like to have a tour please contact our office and we will help arrange one for you. We are so excited to welcome your student to John Muir! 3/26 – Halkin Elementary 3/29 – Halkin Elementary 4/12 – Garfield Elementary 4/19 – Monroe Elementary 4/23 – Madison Elementary We can’t wait to show you our wonderful middle school! On Tuesday, March 5, San Leandro residents voted on Measure J, a $174 million facilities improvement bond measure, to fund critical facility upgrades & improvements for SLUSD schools.
