SLUSD mourns the loss of Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan

We are absolutely heartbroken to learn of the tragic death of Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan. As many of you know, she provided an enormous amount of assistance and attention to our district’s students, staff, and families over her long, illustrious political career.  In particular, she was a key proponent and driving force behind the construction of the Barbara Lee Center for Health and Wellness in our district, which continues to bring so many essential resources to our students, staff, and families. She was a fierce, brilliant leader for justice who always used her political strength to improve our community and give voice to communities in need.

On behalf of all of us in SLUSD who were fortunate enough to know Supervisor Chan, please join us in sending our sincere condolences to her family and loved ones, as well as our entire community who will feel the loss of her leadership, advocacy, and love. She will be deeply and dearly missed.
