Career Pathways

San Leandro High School’s Career Pathways provide opportunities and options for students to explore high growth industry careers. Pathways are sequences of college and career readiness courses for 10th through 12th graders that focus on rigorous academic and college-preparatory curriculum.

The courses are designed to develop students’ core academic and technical skills. All incoming 9th graders will begin their college and career pathway by completing the semester-long College and Career Seminar course. Starting in the 10th grade year, students have the option of taking classes from pathway programs described below. Students who choose a career pathway will participate in work-based learning opportunities, such as internships, job shadows and industry tours that will support personalized real world learning. Many courses also provide early college credits that have been articulated Career Pathways with local community colleges.

Unlike our academies, pathways do not operate under a cohort model. Students select their non-pathway classes from among our many course offerings and students have the ability to take classes from more than one pathway. While the pathways officially launch for the class of 2021, many of the 10th-12th grade pathway courses are offered. Please see the SLHS Course Catalog for more details on these pathways and the courses available to our students.
