February 25th Eagle Express
Eagle Express!
Safe. Organized. Achieving. Respectful.
Hello Eagle Family!

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear McKinley Families,

Welcome back Families!! I hope you enjoyed your President’s week off. As we get ready to return to school, we need your support! Candy is hard to resist for most people, especially children! At school, we see kids eating candy at breakfast, snack, lunch, and all the recesses in between! Too much sugar isn’t healthy and it doesn’t supply students with the nutrients they need to succeed. So- Let’s eat healthy!

Healthy Snack Challenge tips:

  • Please avoid sending your student with candy if at all possible- we are asking students to save any candy for at home

  • Try to limit sugary sweets sent in lunches/ snacks

  • Try to include fruits and veggies whenever possible

Thank you for your partnership in our Healthy Snack Challenge!

Measure J will be on the ballots soon. Please vote as we hope to continue to beautify and update our campus. Please read!

CULTURAL CELEBRATIONS
ELPAC

As we prepare for the upcoming Summative ELPAC this Spring, I wanted to highlight its significance in monitoring our students' progress as English learners. This test serves as one of the criteria for reclassification and plays a vital role in monitoring their development.

To aid in your child's preparation, we've compiled sample practice tests that you can use together. These resources will help familiarize them with the format and content of the Summative ELPAC, ensuring they feel confident and ready for the assessment.

Additionally, we've gathered informative materials that you can share with other families. This information will provide clarity and understanding about the Summative ELPAC, its purpose, and its role in our students' academic journey.

Your support in preparing our students for this assessment is greatly appreciated. Should you have any questions or require further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out. These are great materials for students in 1st through 5th grade and are optional for parents to use with their students.

Together, we can help our students excel and achieve their full potential!

Electronic Devices Per California Education Code 48901.5 the Governing Board has the right to regulate the possession or use of any electronic signaling devices (i.e. cell phones). Sites have established rules for usage that are to be followed by all students and staff while on campus. According to site policy, cell phones can be confiscated by administrators if they are deemed disruptive to the educational environment. Cell phones can be searched by administrators if there is just cause or reasonable suspicion based on objective facts. Neither the sites nor the District is responsible for any electronic devices or cell phones that are brought on campus. If they are lost, stolen, or damaged, it is the sole responsibility of the student or parent/legal guardian.

What is a Level 1 Volunteer?Level 1 Volunteers are volunteers who have minimal interaction with students. Minimal interaction is defined as those volunteers who have direct student contact for less than one hour per month and/or no one-on-one student contact (e.g. assisting with day field trips, one-time classroom presentations, fundraising, and special events would still constitute minimal interaction).

These volunteers will not be subject to tuberculosis testing or fingerprinting; however, an automated records check to comply with Megan’s law reporting will be required to complete an application.

How to Apply:

Download and complete the Volunteer Packet. (Includes Megan’s Law check)
(Paquete para Voluntarios)
(義工須知及申請表格)

1. Turn in your complete packet to the site which you want to volunteer, and a copy of your ID.
