Growing into Spring: March SLUSD Update!

SAN LEANDRO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
"Making Excellence Our Tradition"
March, 2024

Dear SLUSD Community,

As we enter March, I want to highlight some important collective responsibilities: voting in the upcoming election and encouraging regular school attendance. Both play key roles in shaping the future of our community and supporting our young people.

Elections influence the funding and policies of our schools, affecting the quality of education available to our students. In the same way, consistent school attendance is crucial for student success, impacting their learning and overall progress. This year, SLUSD is on track to increase our Average Daily Attendance (ADA) by 1.75% and decrease Chronic Absenteeism by 8.36% from last year. This improvement is a direct result of the hard work of our staff, students, and their families. Let's continue to encourage and support our students in understanding the importance of going to school every day.

Warm regards,

Dr. Mike McLaughlin
Superintendent

It also promises improved safety and accessibility through a new entrance and expanded parking. This facility will reflect the community's dedication to providing premier educational and athletic facilities. Visit our construction information page for more information.

Our children will experience several transitions and milestones throughout their young lives, such as moving from TK to K, 5th grade to middle school, or transitioning out of high school. Hear others share what has worked for them and share keys to your progression through the milestones. The session is open to all San Leandro parents/caregivers with TK-12th grade students. Raffle Prizes! Spanish and Chinese interpretations will be provided.

Connections to others is a great way to overcome isolation, stress, and an array of other emotions that aren't beneficial to us or our children. During the session, we identify two strategies to increase our connection to the community and each other. This session will support single and co-parent families with TK-12th grade students. Raffle Prizes! Spanish and Chinese translations will be provided.

SLUSD Special Families Learning Series
