| School board trustees and district leaders recently toured the new, cutting-edge gymnasium at San Leandro High School, which is slated to open this fall. The $67 million project substantially enhances SLHS, introducing a state-of-the-art gym, locker rooms, weight room, and practice facility. It also promises improved safety and accessibility through a new entrance and expanded parking. At the February school board meeting, McKinley Elementary proudly recognized Muhammad Abdullah, a standout 5th grader who excels academically, showing remarkable dedication in every subject. Beyond his studies, he's a true friend and helper, offering time to tutor classmates without expecting anything in return. His achievements include scoring at an 8th-grade level in Math and nearly a 10th-grade level in ELA on the Star Renaissance test. Muhammad has also demonstrated resilience and overcoming challenges, proving he can soar through any situation.
