FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: SLUSD Announces Trustee Area 1 Opening for School Board Representative 


SAN LEANDRO, CA – Trustee Monique J. Tate has relocated from the area, bringing a vacancy to the SLUSD governing board in Area 1.


The San Leandro Unified School District has released details regarding the procedure and schedule for filling the vacancy in Area 1. This opening has arisen due to Trustee Monique J. Tate's relocation out of the area.


Qualified applicants are required to meet the following criteria:


  1. Must be registered voters and residents of the San Leandro Unified School District.

  2. Must reside in the Trustee Area 1 boundary. See Area 1 boundary map here: SLUSD Trustee Area 1 Boundary Map.

  3. Are not currently employed by the San Leandro Unified School District.


If the above criteria have been met, qualified applicants are invited to submit an application packet on or before August 11 with a 5 pm deadline for receipt of applications via mail or hand-delivery to the District Office at 835 E. 14th Street, Suite 200, San Leandro, CA 94577.

Applicant interviews will be based on the number of applications submitted and will occur before August 29, when the district anticipates announcing the selected candidate. The appointee will hold office until the next regularly scheduled Statewide General Election for governing board members, which will take place on November 8, 2024.
