SLUSD Names McKinley Elementary's Malika Campbell as the Management Employee of the Year

San Leandro, CA—The San Leandro Unified School District (SLUSD) is proud to announce McKinley Elementary Principal Malika Campbell as the 2025 Management Employee of the Year. This recognition celebrates her exceptional leadership, deep commitment to community empowerment, and unwavering dedication to student success.

Principal Campbell began her administrative leadership at the very school where she taught, stepping into the principal role at McKinley Elementary three years ago. With a strong foundation of trust and connection, she brought invaluable insight into the needs of the school community and has continued to foster an environment rooted in care, inclusion, and academic excellence.

“Malika leads with heart, integrity, and a strong commitment to her community,” said SLUSD Superintendent Dr. Michael McLaughlin. “She is a trusted leader who consistently puts students first and ensures that every decision reflects their best interests.”

Known for her calm presence, collaborative spirit, and commitment to equity, Principal Campbell has guided McKinley with purpose and clarity. Her leadership has helped cultivate a culture of belonging, where students, staff, and families feel supported and valued.
