James Madison Spring Concert -
April 25, 2025 at Madison

We are filled with gratitude for Ms. Sara Fanvu, our wonderful Choir and Music Teacher, for teaching our students the gift of song and musicality. This week, we wrapped up a beautiful Spring Concert here at Madison, and we are so proud of our students’ performances!
The pure sound of our students’ voices brought tears to my eyes, because I know how much they deserve a world filled with peace and joy.

We are excited to invite you to the premier event:
🎶 James Madison 3rd-5th Grade Spring Vocal Music Concert
📅 Monday, April 28
📍 San Leandro High School Theater, 2250 Bancroft Ave

Ms. Fanvu is not only nurturing a love of music in our students today, but also inspiring future pathways in college, careers, and the arts. Thank you, Ms. Fanvu, for all you do to enrich our students' lives!
We look forward to seeing you there!

Our Kindergarteners had an incredible learning adventure at San Francisco’s Pier 39 and Aquarium by the Bay! One parent’s video beautifully captures the heart of why we believe in providing all of our students with these meaningful learning excursions.
Thank you for your generous fundraiser donations, your time, and your support — experiences like these would not be possible without you!
We are so grateful to partner with you in creating joyful memories and lifelong learning for our students.

The U.S. literacy crisis

Join RIF to disrupt the literacy crisis

Reading Is Fundamental and our partners work to change the trajectory of the alarming U.S. literacy crisis, which creates barriers between our nation’s children and their opportunities.

25M

children in the U.S. cannot read proficiently.

61%

of U.S. children living at or below the poverty line have no books at home.

1 in 3

children entering kindergarten lack the basic skills they need to learn how to read.

69%

of 4th graders read below grade level, setting them up for difficulty in school and beyond.

70%

of 8th graders read below grade level, leading to possible high school dropout.

We are thrilled to share that James Madison Elementary received a Grant Matching Donation to provide every student with a summer book this June! 📚☀️
We are deeply grateful to our amazing JM PTO for helping fund a portion of this project and supporting our school’s efforts to boost reading for all students. Together, we are building a strong foundation for a summer filled with reading, growth, and imagination!
Stay tuned for more details as we get closer to the book distribution!
