College and Career Center Highlights
Beginning on October 2nd, counselors will be joining the College and Career Center after school until 5:00 pm to support students!
Mondays: Ms. Armstrong and Ms. Kao
Tuesdays: Ms. Kitagawa
Wednesdays: Mr. Knudsen
Thursdays: Ms. Yee
Our work based learning team has been working with our College and Career 9th grade students with concurrent enrollment. Concurrent enrollment at Chabot College ensures that students receive college credit for their course. 
Good job to our 9th graders!!!

Youth Health Equity Council
Paid Opportunity at REACH Ashland Youth Center
The Black Recruitment and Retention Center (BRRC) is a student-founded, student run organization founded in 1983 at UC Berkeley, that focuses on promoting higher education amongst Black students. BRRC's annual Bay Area College Tour is an in-person overnight stay program designed for low-income sophomores and juniors in high school to provide information on the different educational institutions available to them in the Northern California Region. BACT 2023 will be held on Thursday, November 2nd through Sunday, November 5th. 
The deadline is October 9th at 5:00 pm.

The American Heart Association is now accepting applications for their 2023/2024 Bay Area Youth Health Equity Council
 
Locally sponsored by UCSF Health, the Youth Health Equity Council helps students build a toolkit of personal and professional skills, advocate for change, learn about health inequities and how research is conducted. Each meeting will feature guest speakers ranging from doctors and researchers to community advocacy leaders.
 
Please see below and the attached flyer for details.
 
Program Details:
  • Monthly meetings will be held either in-person or virtually. Time is TBD.
  • Program will run from October 2023 through June 2024.
  • All applicants will be notified at the beginning of October of application status
  • Community Service Opportunities
  • Members receive up to a $50 gift card after each meeting depending on attendance and participation.
  • Application Deadline: October 15, 2023

PEN America's Freedom to Read Student Summit is taking place on Saturday, September 30 from 12 - 4 pm at San Francisco Public Library with free lunch, games, and workshops celebrating diverse literature and youth advocacy.

 


The Unity Council in Oakland is currently looking for volunteers for their Dia de los Muertos festival October 29th, 2023. 
The festival will take place 
International Blvd. in Oakland between Fruitvale Ave and 42nd Ave


From October 14 to 29, Dig Deep Farms’ PumpkinPatch at 34600 Ardenwood Blvd, Fremont, CA 94555 will be open every Saturday and Sunday between 10 am and 4 pm.
