California School Dashboard

Summary Report Annual Release

SAN LEANDRO, CA - The California Department of Education (CDE) has released the California School Dashboard for the 2022-23 academic year. Analysis of status and improvement in state measures for defined student groups for the 2022-23 academic year is available now on the California School Dashboard website as of December 15, 2023.

The dashboard uses a five-color scale, ranging from red to blue, to represent Academic Performance, Chronic Absenteeism, English Learner Progress, High School Graduation Rate, and Suspension Rate. The College/Career Readiness indicator specifically provides status information for the 2022-23 academic year. School administrators, staff, and parent groups regularly analyze this data as an integral part of our ongoing efforts for continuous improvement.

Summary Points from the California School Dashboard:

  • Overall improvement is observed in most student groups, resulting in minimal red-level indicators.

  • Foster youth stand out as the group with the lowest performance, particularly in chronic absenteeism and suspension. However, it's important to note that the foster youth data is based on small groups, with only 31 students for suspension and 15 for absenteeism.

  • Academic Performance indicators, including ELA and Math results, show improvement across nearly all student groups. The only exception is English learners, who exhibit a red level in both ELA and math, with 11.2 and 2.1 points decreasing, respectively. Reclassified English learners perform better in ELA and Math than English-only and current English learners.

  • SLUSD meets standards for all five Local Indicators, indicating overall success in various aspects of performance and accountability.
