SLUSD COMMUNITY SCHOOLS UPDATE |
|
Last spring, SLUSD announced the award of the $10,450,000 California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP) grant from the California State Board of Education, which is now underway. This exciting development signifies a significant step in enhancing educational and support services for SLUSD students and families.
This funding enables us to extend our existing programs and provide comprehensive student care. The implementation of the CCSPP grant is set to bolster existing student health and wellness initiatives and expand community-based partnerships. This includes building after-school programs, mental health services, and various other resources to empower students to succeed in school and beyond.
These services and programs are being implemented at eight district schools, including Garfield Elementary, Halkin Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, McKinley Elementary, Monroe Elementary, Bancroft and John Muir Middle Schools, and Lincoln High School. These schools were eligible for grant funding based on specific student demographics, including the number of English learners, students meeting income or categorical eligibility criteria for free or reduced-price meals under the National School Lunch Program, and students in the foster youth program.
Look for more information from your schools about the positive impact and transformative changes this grant will bring to the education and well-being of students and their families in the coming years. |
