With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Ernesto Ortega Palacios, a beloved San Leandro High School senior, on Thursday, January 30, due to complications from open-heart surgery. Ernesto was a cherished member of the SLUSD community, growing up in our schools from preschool through his senior year. He attended James Madison Elementary and John Muir Middle School before joining SLHS, where he was nearing the completion of his final year. His joyful presence touched many, and all who knew him will deeply feel his loss.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of watching him grow over the years. During this difficult time, please keep his loved ones and our school communities in your thoughts.
