September District Update: Attendance, Support, and More!

SAN LEANDRO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
"Making Excellence Our Tradition"
September, 2023
Dear SLUSD Community,

We're off to a smooth start this school year! As we return to our learning routines, September is a great time to remember that attendance shapes success. Each day is a chance to learn, connect, and contribute. Regular attendance sets the stage for academic achievement, skill development, and meaningful relationships with teachers and peers.

Parents and guardians, your role is essential. Prioritize attendance and timeliness for your children's consistent routine, well-being, and future success. Your commitment sets a strong example. Every absence is a missed opportunity – every lesson, discussion, and collaboration enriches students' knowledge. Consistent attendance is an investment in their bright future.

Here’s to a fantastic year ahead!

Best,

Dr. Mike McLaughlin
Superintendent

ATTENDANCE MATTERS!

alt_text

Determining whether your child should attend school when they're not feeling their best can be tricky. While it's important to prioritize their health, sometimes sending them in is okay, even if they're slightly under the weather. Going to school is usually fine if they have a mild cold, a minor headache, or a sniffle. However, if they have a high fever, are vomiting, or have a contagious illness, it's better to keep them home.

Use this flyer to help you determine when your child is too sick to attend school!

NEW! You will receive a Weekly Attendance Update at the beginning of each week to keep you up-to-date on your child’s weekly attendance as we partner with you to keep absences from adding up!
