0. LATINX HERITAGE MONTH: Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, born 2 February 1977, known mononymously as Shakira, is a Colombian singer and songwriter. Born and raised in Barranquilla, she has been referred to as the "Queen of Latin Music" and has been praised for her musical versatility. She made her recording debut with Sony Music Colombia at the age of 13. The Pies Descalzos Foundation is a Colombian non-governmental organization created by the artist Shakira that seeks to promote quality public education among children and young people at risk of exclusion in Colombia. This alliance, in collaboration with the "la Caixa" Bank Foundation, is currently focusing on the construction of a new public school in the city of Barranquilla (Colombia), a project that is already underway.

1. Cafeteria Lunch Menu: Breaded Chicken Drumstick and Pasta Salad 

2. School nurse healthy tips: Physical Activity: Participate in physical activity three times per week by going for a walk, playing a sport or simply stretching. Research shows that physical activity can increase energy levels, reduce depression and boost your overall well-being.

3. Girls Soccer Tryouts and Boys Volleyball: Attention students if you are interested in participating in Girls Soccer, tryouts will be Monday October 2nd through Wednesday October 4th. Tryouts will start 30 minutes after school is dismissed on the field. Make sure to get a golden ticket from Ms. Hernandez so you can try out for Girls Soccer as well as Boys Volleyball. There is open gym for Boys Volleyball TOMORROW from 3:30PM-5:00PM. 

4. Attention all students: The use of cell phones is prohibited as soon as you walk into school property even before school starts. Your cellphone will be confiscated if we see your phone out. Also, you cannot chew gum in school, if you are caught chewing gum, you will get detention.
