1. Please explain what your job entails and the number of years you've been with SLAS.

I am an ESL teacher.  I break the giant task of learning a new language into manageable chunks, which I feed to my students through enticement and encouragement.

2. Who inspired you to pursue the career you have today?

In the second grade, I came up with a little song for the steps of subtraction with borrowing,  taught it to a few classmates, and was energized by their success with it and their appreciativeness.  I decided then that I wanted to become a teacher.  Later I lost sight of that goal for a few decades ... but eventually came back around.

3. What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?

I make a darned good green salad.

4.  In terms of successes, which accomplishments are you most proud of?

When our class is hitting a groove, attendance is robust, and students are clearly excited about what they're now able to understand, say, and write, it's a good feeling.

5.  Describe an interesting hobby or pastime that you have.

I'm a determined and dedicated cabaret singer!  I memorize and practice my songs in the car.  I sing them at open mic events and house parties.  I've even put together and performed a few solo shows.
