Language Immersion (DLI) programs allow students to learn academic content (English, Math, Science, and Social Studies) while learning to speak, read and write in another language at the same time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>HOW DOES IT WORK?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Students are taught the same curriculum as their peers in English-only programs, but in DLI at least half of instruction is presented in a second language. Half of the students are English learners while half are native English speakers. Cohorts of students remain together during the program, which encourages deep friendships and provides stability.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS FOR OUR STUDENTS?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>DLI students academically outperform their peers in English-only programs. DLI students were also found to have high levels of self-esteem and motivation.
